St. Luke: Volunteers are invited to luncheon

This was National Volunteer Week so we held a luncheon and invited all of our volunteers for the noon meal of salads, hot rolls, ham, potato chips, and peach and cherry tarts. Ruth Kissel and Lorraine Hadsell presided at the registration book.
Sunday's church service was brought by Marilyn Cox, associate pastor at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
Ellen Darrow took the letter "W" and found a large number of songs starting with "W" and played them on the piano.
The MOM's group came with their little ones who had fun with the big balls and ten pins. In the afternoon, residents gathered in the dining room where Khrista Branson popped corn and everyone ate their fill.
Students from Marion Elementary School came with picture albums. Someone had taken snapshots of several activities and entertainers and made albums. They gave one to everyone.
Teacher Vickie Jirak from Ramona brought her group of children. They did a wonderful job of singing with body and hand gyrations. They were age three through six. Those who came were Adam Makovec, Amy Makovec, Brenna Shields, Tristen Hett, Addie Love, Kayla Love, Natasha Love, Benjamin Love, and Wesley Love.
One day we had an hour of hymn singing with Ruth Kissel at the piano.
At the end of the week, Khrista Branson and Debbie Craig held a homemade ice cream social honoring the resident volunteers. Some fold laundry, play the piano for singing, act as receptionists, furnish pizza suppers, write the happenings for the Marion County Record, and bake cookies for the coffee hour. There is more as time goes on.
We made no-bake cookies Friday for the coffee hour. The afternoon was spent playing Bingo with Pat Smith. She brought blueberry muffins for a treat.
The coffee hour was held as usual Saturday morning with Gene Vinduska and his accordion music. Movies were shown in the afternoon.
