Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb returned home on Tuesday of last week from south Texas. They had spent the winter there enjoying the sunshine. The Stinchcombs visited Ralph and Charlene Janzen in Hillsboro this weekend.

Rose and Greg Davidson and girls had houseguests from Denver from Wednesday through Sunday. Rose's cousin Patsy Melonakis, her daughter Shanan Strewler, and Shanan's daughter Sammy came for the dog show in Wichita. Shanan showed her dog. Rose and Patsy competed in the lip sync at the high school auditorium Saturday night. Rachel and Sarah Davidson went to the Catholic youth convention in Wichita this weekend.

L.Dena Goertz had a table Saturday at the Craft Fair at the senior center. Rose Olive Hett visited the fair on Saturday. Cy and L.Dena, Shirley and David Bowers, Alvina Hoffman, and Skip and Eileen Sieger reported attending the Friends University concert choir's concert Sunday night at Eastmoor. There were 66 singers, Alvina said, because she counted them. Everyone said the choir was great.

Skip and Eileen Sieger drove to Wichita Sunday afternoon to visit Phil and Renate Huttig. Eileen attended a hospital auxiliary meeting Thursday morning and heard a talk on diabetes.

Vicki Smolik reported a little frost Monday morning. I picked a mess of fresh asparagus Sunday morning and enjoyed it at lunch. Asparagus, fresh from the garden, is better than anything you can buy at a store.

Rosalie Klassen called Saturday to tell me that her hip surgery was over and she had been up twice for a couple of steps each time. She is in a lot of pain and appreciated our prayers.

Jeannine Bateman was in Cottonwood Falls Saturday at the First District East Republican Women's meeting. Bill Kassebaum was the speaker.

Shirley Bowers and Mary Beth Bowers and Ronny were in Hillsboro Thursday afternoon and night at the track meet. Abigail Paden and Luke Bowers participated in the meet.

Roseva McLinden brought flowers to me Sunday from Youngtown FCE and stayed for a short visit. Sunday afternoon callers at Roseva's home were Mr. and Mrs. Loren Cox of Newton. Betty Ireland and Roseva drove to McPherson Thursday to attend the FCE district meeting. They brought home material for the 2004 program.

Greg and Mary Beth Bowers spent Friday and Saturday in Wichita entertaining the children and grand- children of the Gideons at the state convention. Mary Beth said she spent a lot of time in preparation for the weekend. A friend of Luke Bowers, John Barr, is spending a few days at the Bowers home while his mother has surgery in Wichita.

Dorothy Hayen called to tell me that Leon Hayen from Topeka and Max Hayen were out this week to help John with fence repairs and pasture burning. She reported .30 inch of rain Sunday morning.
