Students attend after-prom party

Marion High School students and guests traveled April 12 to the El Dorado YMCA for an after-prom celebration.

Following a bus ride to El Dorado, students joined a group of MHS Booster parents ready to give them a "night to remember."

Upon arrival, participants enjoyed an assortment of food and snacks provided by the food committee, spearheaded by Greta Smith and Rhonda Hett.

Activities for the students were numerous and geared for a variety of personalities and abilities.

Rex and Carolyn Savage and Jim and Pat Chamberland were available to take "beach" pictures of individuals or groups of friends, providing a lasting keepsake of their night of fun.

The musically inclined participated in karaoke. Bingo was a popular activity, due to the expertise of Eldon Hett and Mike Thomas.

Many students participated in more physical activities such as ping-pong, pool, basketball, racquetball, volleyball, and swimming. There also was time to enjoy the whirlpool or watch movies.

The most popular part of the night was when students participated in a drawing for prizes donated by area businesses.

The party ended at 4:30 a.m. as they boarded the bus to return to Marion.

Organizers said, "The night was a huge success and the kids had a safe and fun night at After-Prom 2003."

After Prom is sponsored and organized by the Marion High School Booster Club.
