Summer activities abound in Marion County for 2006 years ago

Summer officially begins this weekend, Memorial Day weekend. With summer comes numerous festivals and events in Marion County. Here is a listing of upcoming events:

May 26-29: Family Festival and All-School Reunion, Hillsboro. Musical entertainment, car show, parade, tours of Hillsboro museums, German and Low German food and demonstrations, fun walk/run, high school reunion, demolition derby, Memorial Day ceremonies, and opening of the new Hillsboro Family Aquatic Center. Most events in Memorial Park. $5 button required for most events. Additional fees charged for demolition derby, reunion, and swimming pool. June 2-4: Chingawassa Days, Marion. The Guess Who headlines the Saturday evening entertainment, bed races, dinky duck races, chain saw artists, Chingawassa Idol competition, Extreme Rhino Challenge, amusements, Texas Hold'em Tournament, motorcycle poker run, food vendors, and live musical entertainment. July 4: July 4 Celebration, Peabody. Traditional fireworks display, parade, car show, flea market, amusements, and food vendors. Most events in the park. $3 buttons required. For more information, contact Peabody City Office, 620-983-2174.

Sept. 1-4: Labor Day Celebration, Florence. Parade, car show, barbecue cook-off, musical entertainment, and food vendors. Button required for most events. Contact Florence City Office at (620) 878-4296 for more information.
