Svoboda, Billings named students of the month

Senior Emily Svoboda and junior Brett Billings have been designated students of the month for November by staff at Marion High School.

Svoboda is active in choir and band, and is in the cast for the upcoming MHS musical "My Fair Lady." She is vice president of Key Club, and a member of student council and National Honor Society. Svoboda is a peer mediator and a jury member for youth court. She has been a past participant in track and cross country. Outside of school, Svoboda is involved in CYO (Catholic Youth Organization), and is employed at Marion Healthmart Pharmacy. She is the daughter of Terry and Mary Svoboda of Marion, and has two brothers, Adam and James.

Billings, junior class president, also is treasurer for student council. He participates in band and forensics, and has been involved with MHS musical and melodrama productions. Billings is active in scholars' bowl competitions, and is a member of the football and track teams. Billings contributes his voice to the choir at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, and is active in Boy Scouts. He also has worked as a lifeguard at Marion City Pool. He is the son of Erik and Myrta Billings of Marion, and has a brother, Brandon Kelderhouse, and a sister, Sarah Grote.
