Synergy is opening act

Wichita-based band Synergy will be the opening act June 7 for the Ozark Mountain Daredevils during the annual Chingawassa Days celebration in Marion's Central Park.

The band performed as the Friday night entertainment last year and features a combination of male and female performers, all musicians in their own right, who play retro to current top 40 hits.

The six-member professional band brings energetic and entertaining performances to the stage while connecting with the audience. They will perform at 7:15 p.m.

Synergy band members are Miranda McKellips, vocals and percussion (and granddaughter of Homer and Jean McKellips, Marion County Park & Lake residents); Danelle Phillips, vocals and keyboards; Billy Soto, lead guitar and vocals; Billy Fulcher, drums; Bo Cameron, bass and vocals; and Grant Snyder, keyboards and vocals.

Ozark Mountain Daredevils will take the stage at 9 p.m.

The three-day festival will feature chain saw artists, bed races, a food court, dunking booth, cow chip bingo, gunfighters, fast draw demonstrations, an anvil shoot, and the River City Spinners Yo-Yo Club from Wichita.

Fun Time Amusements will provide rides and attractions for children of all ages in the park.

Traditional activities will return to the festival such as the Marion National Bank barbecue, St. Luke Hospital ice cream social, and a karaoke contest.

A Friday night dance will feature Soul Preachers.

Other events include the Marion Kiwanis pancake feed, students from Vicky's School of Dance, mule rides, kids' contests, Alex Stuchlik Polka Band, pedal tractor pull, Central National Bank watermelon feed and bingo, miniature horse demonstration, chain saw art auction, and the Sunday worship service.
