Take stock for the new year

We are starting a brand new year. I'm trying to think of the things I want to take with me in 2005.

First and foremost, I'll take my dear family, from the oldest to the youngest great-great-grandchild. In fact, I understand that a little angel will join us in February. Of course, I'll take her. Then there are my friends and neighbors. I've lost so many friends but I will certainly take my memories of them. I'll take my dreams and plans for the future, realizing that they may be fragile.

I think of the people in the military, who in battle have lost their dreams and the people who lost their dreams when the big tidal wave hit their homes. We can pray for them and give financial aid.

I know many of them didn't have much in the way of material things but I'm sure they loved their lost ones just as much as we would under the same circumstances.

Maybe the purpose is to bring all the nations closer together in helping a hurting world.

I'll try not to take with me any disappointments, grudges, unfair judgments, and grumpiness.

This is the time to take stock and to make a new start. Are you game? I'll try if you will. Hooray for 2005!
