Because of Saturday's snowstorm, many Tampa residents have been staying indoors. Worship services at some area churches Sunday morning were canceled. Although roads have not been terribly hazardous, they have posed a challenge for the timid.

Lori Moldenhauer, Leo sponsor took her daughter, Nikki Stenzel, and two other youth, Anna Weber and Hailey Owens, to Salina Saturday for the Mid-Winter Lions Club Rally. The Leos enjoyed a day of activities at the Friendship Center and Holiday Inn. Lions members and guests joined them for a dinner in the evening, where Nikki was recognized as a Leo of the Year, one of only 18 Leos in the world to achieve that honor. Others from this area present for the occasion were Tom Moldenhauer, Greg Stenzel, Betty Stenzel, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lisa Hanschu, Gary and Jayann Schneider, and Jim Clemmer.

The Centre quiz team took third place at a meet in Junction City Saturday. The only rounds they lost were on tie-breaker questions. Members of the team were Julie Rziha, Kristine Jirak, Ty Remy, Brooke Carlson, and Ella Nedikhanoza. They will compete Feb. 1 at the regional meet at Blue Valley High School in Randolph.

Leona Kleiber visited Pearl Belton Monday afternoon.

Andrea Kleiber was a Wednesday dinner guest of her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Paula Cox was a Tuesday evening visitor of Adeline Bernhardt.

Ashton Smith of Pilsen and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Monday afternoon visitors of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs. They enjoyed cake and ice cream in an extra celebration of Reuben's birthday.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki were Sunday evening visitors of Frank and Anna Mae Stika.

Jonas and Kim Frantz were Sunday dinner guests of Vernon and Jennifer Henry of Hillsboro.

Jesse and Ashton Smith of Pilsen, Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, and Reuben and Lucille Kerbs enjoyed dinner out in Durham Saturday in celebration of Reuben's birthday. Reuben also received many phone calls, cards and gifts.

Tom and Dee Duggan joined Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington at the Centre-Herington basketball game Friday evening. Kaylee performed with other elementary students in a spirit dance at halftime.

Anna Weber was a Friday overnight guest of her grandparents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika.

Jane Vajnar was a Saturday evening supper guest of Jonas and Kim Frantz.

James Weber visited his grandparents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, on Thursday.

Jan. 4-10

Sunflower Senior Citizens met Tuesday at the senior center for a potluck dinner, meeting and card bingo. The hostesses, Carole Spohn and Bonnie Crandall, decorated with a snowman theme. Helen Costello won the door prize. Others present were Gary Spohn, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Ruby Vinduska, Magdalen Dvorak, Tillie Hein, Martha Melcher, Edna Mueller, Margaret Jirak, and Jane Vajnar.

A good crowd attended the Leos' soup supper and fun night Sunday evening. The next fun night is scheduled for the first Sunday in February at the senior center.

Andrea Kleiber and Dale Klenda visited Leona Kleiber Sunday afternoon. Adeline Bernhardt joined them for the Leos' supper and fun night.

Tony Young of Goessel visited Lois Sklenar Sunday.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor in Abilene Saturday and took them out for dinner in celebration of Connie's birthday.

Kaylee Hall of Herington was a Friday overnight and Saturday guest of her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn were Thursday dinner guests of Orlin and Norma Wagner of Wichita and saw their new home.

Amanda Baxa was a Thursday dinner guest of her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a dinner meeting of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees in Herington Thursday evening.

The St. John's Lutheran Women's Missionary League met Jan. 3 in the church basement with Leona Kleiber as hostess. Pastor Clark Davis led the topic discussion, and Joyce Medley gave the devotions. Others present were Edna Backhus, Michele Berens, Adeline Bernhardt, Janet Bielefeld, Kathy Davis, and Betty Mueller. Pastor Davis delivered the food collected by the congregation to Main Street Ministries during the holidays. Items collected on the church's cap and mitten tree were sent to Good Shepherd Mission in Kansas City.

Tom and Dee Duggan joined Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Joe and Joyce Cox for dinner out Jan. 3 in celebration of the Coxes' wedding anniversary.
