Many from here attended funeral services Monday afternoon for Ben Goertz at Durham Baptist Church and/or visitation Sunday evening at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel. A lifelong resident of the area, Goertz was a much-admired community leader in Durham and had many friends throughout the area. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner out Monday in Salina.

Martha Melcher, Tillie Hein, Edna Mueller, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt attended a pancake supper Sunday evening at Trinity hall in Ramona. The meal was sponsored by the couple's club.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the George Jones concert Sunday evening in Salina.

Jim and Mary Clemmer spent Saturday in Emporia. While Jim attended a district Lions Club meeting, Mary and her sister, Faye Jaggard, visited Commodore and Adeline Wood. The Clemmers also got to visit with Mike Dailey and Caroline Blackwell and Darren of Auburn, Wash., who were staying at the motel.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, David and Julie met Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Wichita at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Saturday in Wichita to visit Sister Mary Cora Rziha.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended the pancake feed Sunday evening at Trinity hall in Ramona.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Saturday afternoon with Milda Krauter at Marion Manor in Marion.

Ashton Kerbs of Salina and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn visited after church Sunday with Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Connie Atkinson and Teresa Yurgensen and Samantha of Abilene and Eleanor Murphy spent the weekend with James Murphy at Frisco, Texas.

Tom and Dee Duggan and their friends, Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Joe and Joyce Cox of Abilene, attended "Always Patsy Cline" Saturday evening at the Stiefel Theater in Salina.

Jim and Mary Clemmer accompanied Tom and Dee Duggan to Emporia Friday evening for a district Lions Club meeting at the Ramada Inn. Gary Schenider of Herington also attended. Some of the clubs brought foods from various ethnic groups to sample. Cuisines represented included German, Italian, Russian, Irish, Mexican, Belize, and American.

Leona Kleiber visited Saturday afternoon with Pearl Belton.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence Thursday morning in Hillsboro for the "Learning in Retirement" program at Tabor College. Dr. Nabil Seyam, a native of Iraq, talked about the past, present, and future of his homeland and answered questions from the audience. Other Tampa people attending included Mildred Hamm and Jane Vajnar.

Mary Christiansen, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, and Dee Duggan attended a meeting Thursday of the Red Hat Ladies in Herington. The group enjoyed dinner at the Hilltop Community Center followed by a visit to the museum. Barbara Askew of Herington was hostess. Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington met them for dinner.

Adam Hall of Lee's Summit, Mo., called Tom and Dee Duggan with the news that he has qualified for the geography bee at his school March 5.

Peggy Goertzen of Hillsboro spoke Feb. 16 at the senior center to a joint meeting of Prairie Pals, Holy Redeemer Altar Society, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Peggy Kleiber and Monica Svoboda were hostesses. Goertzen displayed dolls from her collection and used them to illustrate her personal Christian testimony.
