Tom and Dee Duggan attended a Leos meeting Monday at Centre High School. Leos is the junior division of the Lions Club.

Leroy Schwartzman is here spending some time with his mother, Helen Schwartzman. Additional Sunday evening visitors were Stephanie Classen of Marion, Martha Melcher, and Eleanor Murphy.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion.

Valerie Hampton went to Salina Sunday afternoon to see Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ."

Kristin Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent the weekend with Jim and Kris Srajer. They attended a dinner at Elmo Sunday and a 4-H skating party later in the afternoon. Kristin spent Monday with Tillie Hein.

Andrea Kleiber stopped Sunday evening for a short visit with her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

American Legion and Auxiliary members and their spouses held their annual birthday dinner Sunday evening at the café with a social time at the Legion hall before and after dinner. Bonnie Funk read a piece called "What Is a Veteran?" and shared a humorous story with the group.

Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna.

Gary and Carole Spohn were Sunday supper guests of Ryan and Claudette Spohn, Adam and Lauren of Manhattan.

Tampa 4-H members participating in Regional 4-H Day Saturday at El Dorado included Amanda Kleiber, Julie Rziha, Grant Srajer, Jackie Klenda, Aaron Barney, and Kristine Jirak. Amanda won a blue on her reading and a top blue on her demonstration. Grant and Julie both earned blues on their demonstrations. Kristine brought home a red for her piano solo. Your correspondent was unable to learn how Jackie and Aaron placed in public speaking.

A good crowd attended the Lions Club pancake feed Saturday at the senior center.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday morning for a basketball game in which their granddaughter, Taylor Thompson, played. Doug and Connie Thompson of Abilene also were present. Later all went out for breakfast, and Allison Phillips joined them. Reuben and Lucille did some errands before returning home.

Tom and Dee Duggan were among the many Tampa people attending the wedding of Greg Holub and Pam Slayden Saturday afternoon at Pilsen, followed by a reception, dinner, and dance.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki went to Wichita Saturday for dinner out and shopping.

Jane Vajnar and cohorts are still busy preparing for her auction. Volunteers this week included John and Kathy Oborny, Dan and Kim Oborny, Ethan and Logan, Diane Steiner, Mike and Sharon Benda, Jonas and Kim Frantz, Wilbert Backhus, Herb Backhus, Willis and Eleanor Herbel, Raymond Bielefeld, and Clayborn Schmidt.

Ruby Vinduska accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to the Holub-Slayden wedding Saturday at Pilsen. Leona Kleiber joined them for the dinner and dance.

Pamela Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls took Tillie Hein to Abilene Saturday, then to Cottonwood Falls, where she was an overnight guest of Pamela and her husband Bill. All enjoyed supper out Saturday evening in Opie. They attended Mass Sunday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Strong City, followed by a St. Patrick's Day dinner served by the men of the church. Pam brought Tillie home on Sunday.

Leona Kleiber was a Friday overnight guest of Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta. On Saturday she accompanied Becky and her daughters to El Dorado where Amanda Kleiber met them. Leona's four granddaughters participated in the seven-county Regional 4-H Club Day. Amanda received a top blue on her foods demonstration and a blue on her reading. The large vocal ensemble won a top blue. The Routh sisters took blues in readings, junior demonstration, instrumental solos, trio, and one-act play. All enjoyed lunch in El Dorado, and Leona accompanied Amanda home.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Friday morning at Marion Manor in Marion.

Claudette Spohn, Adam and Lauren of Manhattan spent Friday with Gary and Carole Spohn. Georgia Spohn was an additional visitor.

The Centre junior high quiz teams coached by Kathy Davis competed March 8 at the league meet in Manhattan, and another meet Thursday at Hillsboro. The eighth grade team placed first and the seventh grade team placed second at the league meet. The seventh grade team also placed fourth on Thursday. Members of the eighth grade team are Julie Rziha, Kristine Jirak, Ty Remy, Allie Will, and Brooke Carlson. The seventh grade team consists of James Weber, Tina Veasley, Ethan Forsberg, Josh Leach, and Ben Thompson.

Kaylee Hall of Herington accompanied Tom and Dee Duggan to Lee's Summit, Mo., Thursday to take Adam Hall home. (He had spent his spring break here.) They were overnight guests of Darla Hall and Adam, returning Friday to Tampa. Kaylee remained with her grandparents until her mother, Deb Hall, came Saturday evening to get her.

Eleanor Herbel, Mildred Hamm, and Jane Vajnar attended the monthly meeting Thursday evening of King's Daughters at the Durham Baptist church. Kelly Bettles and Mary Helen Becker were hostesses. Muriel Christiansen presented a mission study, and Donna Diener led a lesson on hope.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence Thursday in Hillsboro. They attended Learning in Retirement at Tabor College and enjoyed lunch out. Jeff Slater, meteorologist for Channel 10, was the featured speaker.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs were among the Tampa people who went to Centre Thursday evening to watch the fifth grade boys' biddy basketball game and the seniors against the faculty basketball game.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber visited Ruby Vinduska Wednesday at the Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro.

Sunflower Senior Citizens met March 9 for a potluck dinner and business meeting. They made plans for hosting the county board meeting on Friday. Several women stayed to do some cleaning in the kitchen. Members are looking forward to the April meeting when students from Centre Elementary School will provide music. Bonnie Crandall and Carole Spohn were hostesses. Others present were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Tom and Dee Duggan, Margaret Jirak, Magdalen Dvorak, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Martha Melcher, Eleanor Murphy, Maxine Mueller, Frank Patton, Tillie Hein, Jane Vajnar, and one guest, Adam Hall.

Lenora Graham of Florence and Georgia Spohn went to Newton March 9 and took Earl Pankratz out for lunch.
