A group of senior citizens took the tour bus to Yoder Thursday. They enjoyed dinner at the restaurant there and browsed among the shops. Then they went on to Hutchinson to visit the Stutzman Greenhouse. Tillie Hein arranged the tour, and Jim Clemmer drove. Others taking the jaunt were Martha Melcher, Vickie Melcher, Mary Lou Kroupa, Magdalen Dvorak, Mary Clemmer, Eunice Steiner, Leona Kleiber, Erma Reznicek, Lucille Bernhardt, Sylvia Bezdek, and Iona Dietrich.

Spring has arrived in Tampa. Many yards are bright with daffodils and forsythia, and the Bradford pear tree in front of Tampa State Bank is breathtaking. Check it out.

Jim and Mary Clemmer are the proud great-grandparents of Abigail Marie Sutton, born March 21 to Nyle and Kathi Sutton of Topeka. Abigail made her appearance a month early; she was born on her other great-grandmother's 80th birthday, her grandparents' wedding anniversary, and an uncle's birthday. To rephrase FDR, "It was a day which will live in joyful celebration." Abigail has three older siblings, Alex, Meagan, and Kyle. She weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Tillie Hein spent Saturday and Sunday with her granddaughter and husband, Bill and Pamela Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls. On Saturday they all attended a dinner at the country club in Emporia to celebrate the 70th birthday of Dolores Scott, Tillie's daughter and Pam's mother. Others present were Ronald Scott, Debra Dody of Branson, Mo., and Rebecca Nottingham, Daniel and Emily of Ozawkie.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Salina Sunday afternoon to see the movie "The Passion of the Christ." Later they enjoyed supper out.

Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, Michael and Jennifer Jay, and Mackenzie Parons attended a benefit dinner at the American Legion Hall in Hope for Pam (Backhus) Barrett, who is being treated for melanoma and needs help with medical expenses.

Martha Melcher and Eleanor Murphy were Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman.

Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna. It was a celebration dinner for the Moldenhauers' wedding anniversary. In the afternoon, Anna Mae, Lori, Nikki, Lisa, James, and Anna went to Salina, where they attended a party at the home of Brian and Corey Sader, Kevin and Brylee. The occasion was a celebration of Brylee's first birthday. A number of relatives were present, and ice cream and cake were served.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas and Leona Kleiber attended the Boy Scout Blue and Gold awards ceremony and dinner Sunday evening at Pilsen. Nicholas earned his Arrow of Light and numerous activity, academic, and sports pins. He will advance to Boy Scouts.

Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were after-church visitors Sunday of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Brenda Mueller of the University of California, Berkeley spent her spring break (March 20-27) here visiting her grandparents, Art and Betty Mueller, and David Mueller.

Lucy Young of Wichita and Tony Young of Goessel visited Saturday with Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton.

Lori and Tom Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed dinner out and shopping Saturday in Salina in celebration of their wedding anniversary.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday. After doing their errands, they met Connie Thompson and Taylor for lunch.

Leona Kleiber accompanied Lynn and Peggy Kleiber to Wichita Saturday afternoon to attend the Catholic Youth Organization convention award ceremony at the Airport Hilton. Amanda Kleiber and Laura Klenda received the Outstanding Catholic Youth award, and Andrea was elected president of CYO for the Wichita diocese. Lynn, Peggy, and Leona enjoyed supper in Newton en route home.

Rita Hensley and Julie Utt of Winfield visited Helen Schwartzman Thursday afternoon.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda and Nicholas visited Leona Kleiber Thursday evening.

Georgia Spohn visited Mary Reich Wednesday afternoon at the home of Lyle and Nancy Reich of Hope.

Leona Kleiber visited Lorene Kleiber Wednesday afternoon at Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro. Agnes Steinert also was visiting Lorene.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Hoisington Wednesday for the funeral of Vernon Kerbs at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Burial was at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. He was Reuben's cousin.

Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas Kleiber were dinner guests March 23 of their grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Cassie Clemmer of Salina, granddaughter of Jim and Mary Clemmer, won overall first place at the state weight-lifting meet Saturday in Winfield. She also took first in the bench press and second in the hand clean.

Leona Kleiber was a recent visitor of Crysta Clymer, Isaac and Lillian and Hank and Gertie Schubert of Ramona.
