Tampa area harvest is 'mixed to good'

Trucks are streaming in to the elevator as farmers in this area harvest their wheat crop. Test weights are reported to be good. Some farmers report good yields, but most say yields are mixed with some fields good and others fair to poor.
The improvements to the ball field are being appreciated this summer with games played there several evenings a week. Children are getting much pleasure from the new covered sand box. They and their parents owe a vote of thanks to Tom Leihy, who constructed it and to Dalke Construction, who donated the sand.
Stanley and Eva Anderson, Roger and Jane Anderson, and Kaden Peters are coming over from Lindsborg to harvest wheat for Cindy Bentz and family. Mary Jo Young from California and Leita Stroble of Lindsborg joined them on Monday and treated all the harvest hands to dinner at the café.
James Weber spent from Sunday to Wednesday at 4-H camp at Rock Springs.
Taylor Thompson of Abilene spent Monday and Tuesday with her grandparents, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, Ashton and Rustyn Kerbs also spent some time with them during Taylor's visit.
Wayne and Marita Schwartzman of Wichita are spending this week with his mother, Helen Schwartzman.
Dave Bauer of Omaha, Neb., arrived here Sunday evening to spend several days with his brother and family, Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole, and to help with harvest.
Adeline Bernhardt spent from Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon with Carl and Kathy Hubbard and Clint of Wellington. Barney and Linda Bernhardt of Wichita and Carl and Kathy were hosts for a supper at the Hubbard home Saturday in belated celebration of Adeline's 80th birthday, which was June 6. Others helping her celebrate were Kelly Bernhardt, Crysalias, Alexie, and Bryan of Olathe, Glen and Milda Krauter, Jack and Sharon Grosse, and Kevin, Julie, Taylor, and McKenzie Ensminger of Peabody, Leona Kleiber and Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas of Tampa, Becky Routh, Allison, Melody, and Danielle of Augusta, Mitch and Jennifer Rusk, Kelsey and Chandler of Fort Gibson, Okla., Chris and Dee Anna Stout, Rachael Ross, Megan Bernhardt, Hailey and Heather Haynes of Wichita, Donna Hubbard, Ken and Laverne Miller, Dr. Joe, Linda, Leigh, Michele, and Brett Baker, Greg, Marsha, and Ashley Renn, Colt Cody, Paul Williams, and Mat Saffell of Wellington.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lisa Hanschu, Anna Weber, and Danny Denham attended a party at the home of Brian and Corey Sader in Salina Sunday afternoon in celebration of Trevin Sader's second birthday.
Leona Kleiber spent from Thursday to Sunday in Augusta with Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle. The ladies attended a mother-daughter tea Saturday morning at the church in Andover. Becky and her daughters entertained with vocal and instrumental music during the tea.
Willis and Eleanor Herbel attended a reunion of the Voth family in Hesston Saturday.
Meghan Leihy and Anna Weber exhibited in the Marion-Dickinson County 4-H Flower and Garden Show at Hope Friday morning. They also participated in judging and an identification test. Meghan earned a top blue on a single flower and received a trophy.
Lenora Graham of Florence and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner in Newton Thursday.
Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper together June 19 at Lynn and Peggy's home
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene the evening of June 19 to watch the Abilene Ikes girls' softball team play Hope. Their granddaughter, Allison Phillips, played for the Ikes, who defeated the Hope team 8 to 6 in a hard-fought game. Connie Thompson and Taylor of Abilene also were in Allison's cheering section.
Dean Routh and Allison of Augusta were June 14 supper and overnight guests of Leona Kleiber. They were attending a state geology field trip headquartered at Lindsborg.
