Tampa: Bernhardt's friends help celebrate birthday

Friends helping Adeline Bernhardt celebrate her birthday with a coffee at the café Monday morning were Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, Lois Sklenar, Lola Teetzen, Lucille Kerbs, Taylor Thompson, Maxine Mueller, Edna Mueller, Eleanor Murphy, Kathy Davis, Esther Klein, Joyce Medley and Shirley Hein. Adeline's birthday was Friday.
Stephanie Claasen of Marion, Martha Melcher, and Eleanor Murphy were Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman.
Janie Rziha of Wichita spent a long weekend here visiting Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie. She is spending most of her time this summer in Wichita with her sister and family, Drs. Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter.
Kristin Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent the weekend here visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. All except Tillie were Saturday dinner guests of Pam and Bill Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls, then went to Strong City for the parade and rodeo. All were Tillie's Sunday dinner guests.
Sunday dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt were Barney and Linda Bernhardt and Megan of Wichita and Carl and Kathy Hubbard and Clint of Wellington. All enjoyed birthday cake and ice cream in the afternoon in celebration of Adeline's birthday. Her guests also helped her with some landscaping.
Lance Cpl. Charles Clemmer, grandson of Jim and Mary Clemmer, called home from Baghdad last week. He seemed to be in good spirits and reported that troops there have begun getting hot meals. For some time they were limited to one meal a day and that one was a "ready-to-eat" meal.
Vacation Bible School at St. John's Lutheran Church last week had a band theme. Children made their own musical instruments in crafts and used them in their daily worship and for the closing program Friday evening. A potluck supper followed the program.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday and visited Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor. They ate out and did some shopping.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn went to Manhattan Saturday. They met Steve Spohn of Hutchinson and Orlin and Norma Wagner of Wichita for dinner. After dinner, Orlin went to a session of the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention and Steve returned home, while the others enjoyed some shopping.
Dean and Becky Routh, Melody and Allison of Augusta came here Saturday afternoon. They were supper guests of Leona Kleiber and Danielle Routh. Danielle returned home with them after spending a week here visiting her grandmother and attending Vacation Bible School.
A group of senior citizens took the tour bus to Rolling Hills Zoo near Salina Friday also enjoying a coffee break in Gypsum on the way up and dinner out. The tour was planned by Tillie Hein. Others participating were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, Magdalen Dvorak, Ruby Vinduska, Betty Mueller, Martha Melcher, and their driver, Mrs. Rankin of Marion.
Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor in Marion on Thursday.
Lenora Graham of Florence and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner out in Newton June 3.
The name of Reuben Kerbs II was accidentally omitted from a list of relatives attending the commencement of his cousin, Molly Kerbs, at Salina in last week's news. Apologies, Reuben.
