Tampa City Council: Tampa to clean up nuisance properties
Contributing writer
Mayor Jim Clemmer told the Tampa city council at their meeting Oct. 2, that if it wished wish to go ahead with the agreement discussed at the last meeting to authorize Bobbie Strait, county zoning officer, to enforce the clean-up of nuisance properties, it is necessary to publish a notice in two issues of the official newspaper and hold public hearings.
Paul Backhus moved to publish the ordinance and hold public hearings Nov. 6 and Dec. 4. On a second from Tim Svoboda, the motion carried.
The mayor was notified that a high school shop class is making bookshelves for the prospective library. Other announcements were that the cable company which serves Tampa will decide on possible changes since only 13 residents currently subscribe, and culverts for the streets are here and ready to be installed.
Other topics up for discussion were the necessity of raising sewer rates and options for an equitable distribution of costs, and a problem with wear on one of the sewer pumps, which is causing it to pull more amps than normal.
No definite action was taken on these issues.
Bills approved for payment were routine except for a $18,188 payment on the note. This is the next to the last payment.
