Tampa Community Assn. elects officers

The Tampa Community Association met Jan. 20 in the city office. Current officers re-elected for 2004 are Carole Spohn, president; Kathy Davis, vice-president; Dee Duggan, secretary; and Julie Kerbs, treasurer. It was decided to have a community leap year potluck supper Feb. 29 at the senior center. Board games and cards will be available for after-supper entertainment.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna were Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika.

Tim and Marchelle Kerbs of Salina, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, and Russ and Julie Kerbs attended a basketball game Saturday afternoon between the Centre fifth grade team and the Marion I team at Marion. Rustyn Kerbs played on the Centre team.

Paul and Edna Backhus visited Hugo and Naomi Wendt Saturday evening at Sterling House in Abilene.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended Rachel Epp's auction Saturday at Pilsen.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed a day out Saturday in Salina.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha have received notice that their daughters, Janie and Cecilia, were named to the dean's list at Saint Benedictine College and Fort Hays State University, respectively.

Paul and Edna Backhus attended the Kansas Water Well Convention Thursday and Friday at Great Bend.

Janie Rziha and Kristin Mueller went to Washington, D.C., this past week with groups from their colleges to attend a pro-life rally Thursday in commemoration of the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision.

Amanda Kleiber visited Thursday evening with her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Jane Vajnar visited Thursday afternoon with Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn.

Jeanne Rziha took a group of young people to Topeka Thursday. Representative Don Dahl gave them a tour of the capitol building. Jeanne's brother-in-law, Ron Hammerschmidt, and his daughter, Amy Deckert, showed them around the departments where they are employed, health and research, respectively. They also attended a pro-life rally, where they heard a number of informative speakers, one of whom talked with them after the rally. Members of the group were Julie Rziha, Allie Will, Kelsey Hatfield, Nikki Stenzel, Ben Thompson, and Andrea Kleiber.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Marion Wednesday for dinner out.

Lucille Kerbs and Jane Vajnar enjoyed dinner out Wednesday in Durham.
