The Tampa Community Association met Tuesday evening. They finalized plans for an outdoor Christmas decorating contest for homes within an approximate five-mile radius of Tampa. People wanting their homes to be judged should notify Carole Spohn, Carla Hajek, or Dee Duggan. Three homes will be awarded cash prizes of $25, $15, and $10. The TCA also plans to participate with the Lions Club and the city in Santa's visit to Tampa at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Decorated trees will be displayed at the senior center. In addition to the traditional sack of candy and nuts from Santa Claus, refreshments will be provided. The group discussed the selling of bricks from the old high school to fund a beautification project at the school site. The bricks adorned with a picture of the old high school building will be sold at the Tampa alumni banquet; they also can be ordered by calling Michele Berens at 785-965-2296. Because of the hectic holiday season, the association will not meet in December. Starting in January, they will try meeting the third Tuesday evening instead of the second to minimize conflicts.
