Tampa: Georgia Spohn celebrates birthday

Georgia Spohn and Jane Vajnar celebrated Georgia's birthday Wednesday with dinner in Durham.
Tillie Hein went to Herington Tuesday evening to watch her great-grandsons, Grant and Cole Srajer, play soccer.
Those from this area attending the Harvest Hoedown Senior Fair in Salina Tuesday were Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, Magdalen Dvorak, Margaret Jirak and Jane Vajnar. The fair featured many interesting exhibits, informative speakers and a good meal at noon. Perhaps the highlight of the day was the afternoon address by Bill Snyder, former Kansas State football coach.
Lenora Graham of Florence and Georgia Spohn were guests of Earl and Ruth Pankratz of Newton Tuesday for dinner in Hillsboro.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended Kaylee Hall's soccer game in Herington Monday evening. Kaylee's team won.
Sunday dinner guests of Lois Sklenar were her children, Greg Sklenar of Wichita and Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro.
The Holy Redeemer Altar Society enjoyed supper at the café Monday evening with Mary Jirak and Rose Jirak as hostesses. Others present were Tillie Hein, Margaret Jirak, Susan Wallace, Kris Srajer, Dee Duggan, Teresa Tajchman, Carla Hajek, Vickie Jirak, Monica Svoboda, Candace Tajchman and Jeanne Rziha.
Terry and Cindy Vinduska, Ruby Vinduska and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner at the café on Sunday.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the "end of summer picnic" at Saint Columba Catholic Church in Elmo. Later in the evening they went to Herington for the monthly altar society card party. Tillie Hein and Martha Melcher also attended the card party.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna attended the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson Saturday.
Susie Rziha of Independence and Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter and Maria of Topeka were weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie. Joining them on Sunday for the baptism of Isabel Maria Rziha at Hope and following celebration at the Rziha home were Isabel's parents David and Caterina Rziha of Council Grove, her other grandparents Carl and Maria Rozman of Overland Park, Marissa and Alexandria Rozman of Lawrence, Kevin O'Neill of Overland Park, Eric and Kathy Ganstrom, Isaac, Peter and Ian of Council Grove, John Kolhoff of Emporia and his fiancée Sue of Topeka and Ellen Haslouer of Hope.
Dee Duggan got Kaylee Hall of Herington Friday evening and brought her to Tampa. She was an overnight guest of Tom and Dee, and Tom took her back home Saturday morning.
Gary and Carole Spohn took Ryan Spohn of Manhattan, Steve Spohn and Sheri Kersh of Hope and Georgia Spohn out for supper in Abilene Saturday evening in celebration of Steve's and Georgia's September birthdays.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Anna Weber attended the 90th birthday celebration for Ida Svitak at Pilsen Sunday afternoon. They also spent some time building scarecrows for the Stikas' yard.
Paul and Edna Backhus attended a reception and dance at the Catholic church in McPherson Saturday evening in celebration of Marcel and Barbara Tajchman's 45th wedding anniversary.
Dee Duggan went to Centre Friday to attend the meeting of the high school's Leo Club in the morning and the junior high Leo Club in the afternoon as the Lions Club advisor. The groups discussed plans for the Santa Fe Trail Fest at Tampa Oct. 8.
Tampa 4-H members made a good showing at the state fair last week. Purple ribbons were earned by Kristine Jirak in foods and clothing, Julie Rziha and Danielle Spohn in foods. The Marion County team, headed by Ethan Frantz, was the champion 10 of 3. Ethan also was first in class with his hog. Blue ribbon photographs by Ethan Oborny and Shelby Deines were chosen for the centennial photography exhibit and the 4-H Foundation display, respectively. Others earning blue ribbons were Jessica Deines, Justin Deines, Danielle Spohn and Sheila Makovec in photography, Chad Mueller with a dairy calf, Darren Mueller with both a cow and calf, Kevin Mueller with a dairy calf, Tom Oborny with flowers and Julie Rziha in clothing. Congratulations.
John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy and Thomas of Atchison were Saturday visitors of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie and their houseguests, Susie Rziha and Diane Herron and children.
Tom and Dee Duggan went to the Herington Hoedowners square dance Thursday evening at the community building in Herington.
Adeline Bernhardt was a Thursday and Friday guest of Barney and Linda Bernhardt and Megan in Wichita. Kathy Hubbard of Wellington visited them late Thursday afternoon.
Lori Moldenhauer and Lisa Hanschu spent from Sept. 10-14 in Michigan for business meetings. During that time Frank and Anna Mae Stika spent extra time with their grandchildren, Nikki Stenzel and James and Anna Weber.
The Tampa Lions met Thursday noon at the café. Plans were discussed for the renovation of the shelter house in the park and the building of restrooms at the ball field.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs met Doug and Connie Thompson and Taylor at the high school auditorium in Abilene Sept. 10 for a concert by Woods Tea Company sponsored by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. Taylor introduced the performers. The Kerbses and Thompsons went out for refreshments after the program.
