Tampa: Kerbs' celebrate 50th anniversary years ago

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 15 at the senior center with a family dinner. Hosts for the occasion were their children and spouses and their grandchildren: Glenn and Eloise Kerbs, Reuben and Clayton, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs, April and Molly, Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor, and Russ and Julie Kerbs, Ashton and Rustyn. Tim Kerbs welcomed the guests and Pastor Clark Davis gave the invocation. A meal was served to approximately 90 in attendance. Following the meal, Taylor Thompson and Rustyn Kerbs sang a song entitled "Christ Accepts Us All." Many guests then took the opportunity to share memories and stories about the guests of honor. Special guests included their maid of honor Cecile Penney, best man Don Kerbs, bridesmaid Lila Gooding, groomsman Al Gooding, candle lighter Bonnie Seaman, flower girl Jeannine Ward, and soloist Deloris Kerbs. A special video of the Kerbs-Gooding families was shown. Produced by the honorees' granddaughter, Allison Phillips, the video was a gift from the family. Wedding cake and cookies were served.
Friends helping Betty Mueller celebrate her birthday with coffee cake and drinks at the café Monday morning were Maxine Mueller, Leona Kleiber, Lola Teetzen, Edna Mueller, Paula Fike, Elaine Backhus, Jane Vajnar, Lucille Kerbs, and Lois Sklenar.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Council Grove Sunday and met Bobby and Nancy Daniels and Glenn and Beulah Herbic of Alma and Gene and Charlotte Ruhl of Council Grove. All had dinner at the Hays House in celebration of Reuben and Lucille's 50th wedding anniversary. Later they went to the Ruhl home to visit. The men all are retired signal maintainers. They presented Reuben and Lucille with a lovely floral arrangement.
Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman were Eleanor Murphy, Martha Melcher, and Jim and Mary Clemmer.
Kristi Krispense, Kolton, Konrad, Klayton, Kordell, and Kaitlyn have been visiting Willis and Eleanor Herbel since Sept. 16 while work is being done on the Krispenses' home.
Art and Betty Mueller met Lola and Jack Ware of White City in Herington Sunday for dinner in celebration of Betty's birthday.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Country and Western Jamboree at Herington Saturday evening.
Bev Reid of Marion and Edna Backhus attended the Arts and Crafts Fair at Hillsboro Saturday.
Members of Future Farmers of America and Future Business Leaders of America at Centre High School went to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City Saturday. Tampa students participating included Dana Depo, Amanda and Andrea Kleiber, Raschelle Jirak, and Laura Klenda.
Betty Mueller went to Art in the Park at Marion and the Arts and Crafts Fair in Hillsboro Saturday. She also visited Irene Frantz and Ida Frantz at Parkside Homes.
Lou Greenhaw of Hillsboro and Jeanne Rziha attended the state pharmacy convention at Lawrence over the weekend. They gave a presentation about the wellness clinic. Jeanne was a Friday overnight guest of David Rziha. Dave also attended the convention and gave some presentations. After her presentation on Saturday, Jeanne went on to Atchison to visit John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, and Joseph.
Georgia Spohn received a telephone call Saturday from her grandson and family, Ryan and Claudette Spohn and Adam of Iowa City, Iowa, with birthday greetings.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday and attended the Abilene junior varsity invitational volleyball tournament at the high school. Her granddaughter, Allison Phillips, was on the Abilene Cowgirls team which took first place. Connie Thompson and Taylor also were in attendance.
Edna Mueller's brothers and sisters took her to dinner in Durham Saturday to celebrate her birthday. Others present were Delores and Ernie Siggs of Goddard, Erna Peterson of Osage City, Bill and Carol Utech and Junior and Liz Utech of Topeka, Wilbur and Esther Cole of Ottawa, and Erich Utech of Ramona. The group spent the afternoon visiting at Edna's home.
Jane Vajnar was a weekend guest of Jon and Wanda Sneath of Carneiro. She was a Friday evening supper guest of Delbert and Madeline Stuive. Madeline and Jane visited Florence Mullen in Ellsworth Saturday afternoon. Jane attended the wedding Saturday evening of Meghann Stroede and Joel Bunch at Kanopolis. After attending church at Carneiro Sunday morning, she was a dinner guest of Marc and Wendy Stroede in Kanopolis. She paid a condolence call in the afternoon on the family of Harold Henderson at his home in Carneiro.
Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended Art in the Park at Marion Saturday and also visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor. Additional afternoon visitors were Duane and Sandy Frazer of Wichita.
Joyce Medley of Durham, Pastor Clark and Kathy Davis, and Betty Mueller enjoyed morning coffee at the café before Bible study Friday in celebration of Betty's birthday.
Leona Kleiber was a Friday evening supper guest of Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn met Steve Spohn of Hutchinson in McPherson Thursday evening for supper in celebration of Steve's and Georgia's birthdays.

Tampa altar society met the evening of Sept. 16 at the café for dinner and a presentation about World Youth Day in Canada by Cecilia Rziha and Raschelle Jirak.
