Tampa: Kleibers attend honors band concert

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas and Leona Kleiber attended the honors band concert Sunday afternoon in Manhattan. Amanda Kleiber, Andrea Kleiber, Rachel Davis, and Alisa Fernandes were among the 600 band students performing in the concert. They and their band instructor, Ken Roe, attended a band clinic Friday evening and Saturday at Kansas State University. The students were divided into six bands for the performance.
Paul and Edna Backhus were among the supper guests of Ralph and Wanda Richmond of Marion Sunday evening.
Evelyn Hensley visited Adeline Bernhardt after church Sunday.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed dinner in Junction City Sunday.
Dana Depo was a Saturday overnight guest of another Ukrainian exchange student in McPherson in celebration of their birthdays. Several other exchange students from that part of the world also were guests.
The family of Paul and Edna Backhus treated them to dinner in Abilene Sunday in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Others present were Tom and Bev Reid of Marion County Lake, Michael and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Brad and Kathy Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Sara Houdyshell.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs met Connie Thompson and Taylor at a café in Abilene Saturday afternoon to eat together and visit.
Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki went to Wichita Saturday for dinner.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn enjoyed supper in Ramona Saturday evening.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna went to a basketball game in Junction City Saturday to cheer on James Weber, who played.
Charles and Rita Quinn of Winfield spent from Wednesday to Friday with her mother, Evelyn Hensley. They brought a birthday cake to help Evelyn celebrate her birthday.
Paul and Edna Backhus attended a water well convention at the Holiday Inn in Great Bend Jan. 22-23.
Adeline Bernhardt spent from Jan. 21 to 25 with Barney and Linda Bernhardt and Megan, while she was recuperating from eye surgery.
Friends helping Evelyn Hensley celebrate her birthday with coffee and rolls at the café the morning of Jan. 22 were Leona Kleiber, Lola Teetzen, Betty Mueller, Maxine Mueller, Edna Mueller, Lois Sklenar, Lucille Kerbs, and Bonnie Crandall. Elaine Backhus, Adeline Bernhardt and Jane Vajnar were invited, but were unable to attend.
Tom and Dee Duggan spent Jan. 16 to 20 in Lee's Summit, Mo., with Darla Hall and Adam. They watched Adam compete in his school's spelling bee, where he placed third among fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. He is now eligible to compete at the district contest. They also attended Adam's basketball game Saturday evening. En route home, the Duggans visited Deb Hall and Kaylee in Herington. Kaylee accompanied them home and was an overnight guest.
Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole and Tillie Hein spent from Jan. 17 to 20 in Omaha, Neb., visiting Donald and Carolyn Srajer and Ted and Maxine Zielinski. Craig and Theresa Srajer of Moline, Ill., were additional Saturday overnight guests. On Sunday, all attended the baptism of William Bauer, followed by a dinner at the home of his parents, Dave and Susan Bauer. Joining them for that event were Jon and Michelle Bauer of Des Moines, Iowa, Kristin Srajer and Mike and Kathy Bauer of Omaha.
Carl and Kathy Hubbard and Clint of Wellington were Jan. 19 dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt. All visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor in the afternoon.
Julie Utt of Winfield spent Jan. 18 to 20 with her mother, Evelyn Hensley.
Leona Kleiber was a recent visitor of Martin and Catherine Hajek.
