Tampa: Lions Club hosts charter banquet

Leona Kleiber accompanied Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Andrea and Nicholas to Herington Sunday afternoon to attend the 2003 honors recital at Hilltop Auditorium. Amanda Kleiber performed two piano solos. Refreshments were served following the program.
Mary Clemmer went to Salina Sunday. She went to Sunday school with Dale and Sandy Clemmer and Cassie and attended the confirmation of Stevie Gingles. Later in the day, she accompanied Dale and Sandy to Emporia where they visited Jim Clemmer in the hospital. They also visited Faye Jaggard at her home. The three of them enjoyed supper out.
Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., arrived here Monday for a visit with Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. All went to Herington Monday afternoon to attend Grant's soccer game.
Elaine Backhus attended the wedding of her son Evan Backhus and Tisha Webb Sunday evening at the Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer. A reception followed at the Herington Community Building. The Rev. Clark Davis officiated at the ceremony. Other Tampa relatives attending included Herb Backhus, Wilbert and Donna Backhus, Otto and Frieda Bentz, Alan and Virginia Bentz, Cheri Bentz and Tyler, Alma Meyer, and Dennis Meyer.
Marguerite Goertz of Hillsboro and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner in Hillsboro Saturday.
Leona Kleiber visited Milda Krauter Saturday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the Webb-Backhus wedding and reception Sunday evening at Latimer.
Mary Clemmer and Jane Vajnar went to Emporia Saturday and visited Jim Clemmer at the hospital. Mary and Jane also had an opportunity to talk with Wayne Fowler, who was visiting Jim. Faye Jaggard joined them for dinner. The three women also visited Adeline and Commodore Wood.
Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor in Abilene Saturday. Allison was getting ready to go to her junior-senior prom.
Betty Mueller and Leona Kleiber attended the K-6 spring recreation program at Centre High School Friday evening. Leona's grandson, Nicholas Kleiber, was among the students performing.
A group of senior citizens took the tour bus to Winfield Friday. They visited Evelyn Hensley at her home there. Evelyn and her daughter Rita Quinn joined them for dinner. Then the group toured the town with Rita as their unofficial tour guide. Those participating included Tillie Hein, Maxine Mueller, Magdalen Dvorak, Ruby Vinduska, Edna Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, Martha Melcher, and Margaret Jirak. Kathy Hubbard of Wellington met her mother Adeline Bernhardt at Evelyn's and took her back to Wellington where she stayed with the Hubbards until Monday.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs were among those who attended the K-6 Centre Elementary program, "Stuff and Nonsense or Hula Hoop Mania," Friday evening at CHS. Their grandson Rustyn Kerbs performed in the program.
Eleanor Murphy visited Helen Schwartzman the evening of April 29.
Jack and Sharon Grosse of Peabody, Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended a potluck supper for friends and relatives of residents at Marion Manor in Marion April 29. They enjoyed supper and visiting with Milda Krauter.
Prairie Pals met April 28 in the basement of St. John's Lutheran Church with Virginia Bentz and Jane Vajnar as hostesses. The meeting had an antiques theme. The hostesses used mostly old dishes to serve refreshments and decorated the room with antiques. Members and guests brought antiques to show the group. Others present included Cheri Bentz, Michele Berens, Janet Bielefeld, Geraldine Frick, Mary Clemmer, Iona Dietrich, Melissa Stuchlik, Jean Stuchlik, Monica Leihy, Laveta Meyer, Lori Meyer, Jeanne Rziha, Peggy Kleiber, Amanda Kleiber, Kathy Oborny, and Cynthia Bentz.
