Tampa Post Office closure finalized
Residents of Tampa have received notice that their post office officially will be closed Nov. 1.
In the meantime, the postal service is soliciting comments from the public which officials claim will be considered in the final decision.
Tampa Community Association is urging patrons to fill out a comment form and mail it to the U.S. Postal Service, Attention: Herb Swan, 1100 S. Pine St., Norfolk NE 68701-9201.
Forms may be picked up at Tampa State Bank, Agri-Producers, Inc., or the Ramona Post Office.
The former Tampa Post Office building was closed May 2, 2003, and replaced with a group of outside collection boxes which recently were enclosed in a three-sided shelter.
Delivery and retail services are being provided by the Ramona Post Office.
The Tampa name and zip code will be continued, which, according to the postal service, will help to preserve community identity.
