Tampa: Rzhia family welcomes foreign exchange student

Dana Depo from the Ukraine arrived Friday to spend a year as a foreign exchange student. She is living with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and family.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita spent Sunday with his mother, Lois Sklenar.

Helen Schwartzman accompanied Helen Jean McGonigle of Wichita and Larry Parsons of Cheney to Salina Saturday for the Schwartzman family reunion. Other Tampa people attending were Eleanor Murphy and Martha Melcher.

Ernie and Darlene Kite of Bartlesville, Okla., were weekend guests of Tom and Dee Duggan and their houseguest, Adam Hall. Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington spent some time with them. Adam and Kaylee returned home with the Kites to spend several days.

Leona Kleiber and Peggy and Nicholas Kleiber were among those attending a 4-H style show at the Methodist church in Hillsboro Thursday afternoon. Amanda and Andrea Kleiber participated. Afterward, Leona visited Helen Costello at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

Lawrence and Ruth Mueller of Iola visited Art and Betty Mueller Saturday afternoon.

Kristin Srajer of Omaha, Neb., arrived here Thursday and stayed through the weekend visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz of Hillsboro Friday morning.

Jim and Mary Clemmer met Tom and Maxine Knight of Carthage, Tenn., and Sue Schaefer of Emporia at Emporia Friday. They went to an antique store and enjoyed dinner and visiting.

Chris McGonigle and Jerod McGonigle visited Helen Schwartzman on Friday.

Leroy Schwartzman and Justin Schwartzman of Ballwin, Mo., were Thursday overnight guests of Helen Schwartzman.

Kathy Hubbard of Wellington spent July 28 to Aug. 2 with her mother, Adeline Bernhardt. Carl and Clint Hubbard joined them on Wednesday. Leona Kleiber accompanied them to the funeral for Glen Krauter at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody. They also helped take Milda Krauter from St. Luke Hospital in Marion to her husband's funeral. Other relatives attending included Barney Bernhardt and Duane and Sandy Frazier of Wichita, Gary Bernhardt of Omaha, Neb., and Ivan and Dee Shaw of Sarcoxie, Mo. The family has the sympathy of the Tampa community.

Taylor Thompson of Abilene was a July 29 overnight guest of her grandparents, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs. Additional Tuesday morning breakfast guests were Russ, Ashton, and Rustyn Kerbs. Rustyn remained to spend the day. Taylor returned home Tuesday evening.

Jane Vajnar accompanied Kim Frantz to Wichita Monday morning. They were seeking an opportunity to audition as potential contestants for the new daytime version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Apologies to anyone who tried to reach her with news, but your correspondent has her priorities in order.

The Prairie Pals ice cream social Sunday evening was an enjoyable time for many in the community. There were games for all ages and a pinata for the children, as well as ice cream, cookies, and socializing.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.
