Tampa: Rziha family views display from Vatican

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Susie, Janie, and Cecilia, and Julie and Dana Depo met Wayne and Shannon Rziha of Tulsa, Okla., at Guthrie, Okla., Aug. 16. All went to Lubbock, Texas, where they saw a display of frescos from the Vatican, sponsored by the University of Texas Tech. The frescos date from the 1000-1200 period. Painted on the walls of European churches, they had been removed when the churches were renovated.
Willis and Eleanor Herbel, Gus and Mildred Hamm, Kem and Autumn Chisholm, Steven and JuliAnne, Katie Evans, Keli Chisholm, and Jane Vajnar attended a picnic Sunday evening with the Durham Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Jim Clemmer went to Emporia Sunday to be with his aunt, Lorena Gramke, while she underwent surgery for a fractured femur.
A large crowd attended the Tampa State Bank's annual hog roast and street dance Saturday evening. Cactus Jack band played at the dance.
John and Pat Schwartzman were Saturday overnight guests of his mother, Helen Schwartzman. All attended the hog roast.
Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington were Saturday evening visitors of Tom and Dee Duggan and attended the hog roast.
Dave and Sharon Schrag, Payden, Ross, and Layne of Lindsborg were Saturday dinner guests of Gus and Mildred Hamm in celebration of Gus' birthday, which was Monday. All attended the hog roast that evening.
Delbert and Madeline Stuive were at Cottonwood Point Aug. 19 through 26. Jane Vajnar visited Wednesday morning. She and Madeline enjoyed the day together. They had dinner in Marion, took a scenic drive around Marion County Lake and visited St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Father Emil Kapaun memorial at Pilsen. Madeline visited Jane Thursday. They enjoyed dinner in Durham and the sights in Tampa. The Stuives also came to Tampa Saturday evening for the hog roast. Madeline and Jane grew up together in Ellsworth County.
Lenora Graham of Florence, Harriet Bruner of Eastshore, and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner in Lost Springs Friday.
Tampa people attending Ella Schuber's 100th birthday party at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Thursday included Gus and Mildred Hamm, Jim and Myrna Hamm, Edna Backhus, and Phyllis Mueller.
Dee Duggan, Tillie Hein, Beryl Steiner, Lorene Kleiber, Agnes Steinert, and Eleanor Herbel enjoyed supper Aug. 20 in Abilene. They attended a play at the Great Plains Theater. Bonnie Crandall, Helen Costello, and Leona Kleiber joined them for supper. Greg Sklenar and friend Scott and his son of Wichita visited Aug. 18 with Lois Sklenar.
