Tampa: Santa Fe Trail fest is Sunday

Don't forget the Santa Fe Trail Fest at 3 p.m. Sunday at the ball diamond. There will be activities for all ages, as well as the opportunity to relax and visit with neighbors. Bring wiener sticks and lawn chairs, and come prepared to have fun.
Most readers know why there was no Tampa news last week. Your correspondent deeply appreciates all those who supported her with their presence at Robert Vajnar's funeral Sept. 29, the visitation the previous afternoon, as well as countless acts of kindness and compassion.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the funeral of Ava Cox Monday morning at New Basil Church.
Jim Costello of Colwich accompanied Jim Srajer to Kansas City Sunday for the car races.
Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion. She also called on Lorraine Havlik at her home in Marion.
Lori Moldenhauer played the piano Saturday evening in a benefit variety show for Randy Keller at Herington. Tom Moldenhauer, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, and Tom and Dee Duggan attended.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt went to Salina Saturday for dinner. In the afternoon they attended an open house in celebration of Jim and Verla Cott's 50th wedding anniversary.
Ryan Spohn and Adam of Manhattan, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn enjoyed supper Friday evening in Lost Springs. Ryan and Adam also attended Centre's homecoming football game.
Lori Moldenhauer, Nikki Stenzel, and James and Anna Weber were in the parade Saturday at Lincolnville's October Fest. Other members of their family attending were Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lisa Hanschu.
A group of women enjoying dinner in Council Grove Friday included Lorene Kleiber, Agnes Steinert, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Shirley Hamm, Dee Duggan, Helen Costello, Eleanor Herbel, Bonnie Crandall, and Catherine Hajek.
Georgia Spohn met Earl and Ruth Pankratz of Newton and Lenora Graham of Florence Friday at Kingfisher's Inn near Marion for dinner.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt were among those attending the homecoming football game Friday evening at Centre. Tampa was well represented in the queen's court with Raschelle Jirak as homecoming queen, Amanda Kleiber as an attendant, and Aaron Barney as a king candidate. Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Wichita spent Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went Sept. 29 to the funeral of their cousin, Ronnie Seaman, at Chapman. Later, Bonnie Seaman took her daughter and granddaughter, Virgil and Barbara Gooding, Deb Love, Don and Cecile Penney and Reuben and Lucille out for dinner in Junction City.
The Lutheran Women's Missionary League gave a program for the residents of Marion Manor in Marion Wednesday. Pastor Davis gave an interesting message on love, and the women sang a couple of songs. Members participating included Alma Meyer, Frieda Bentz, Betty Mueller, Edna Mueller, Joyce Medley, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt. After the program, cake and lemonade were served in celebration of the birthdays of Milda Krauter, Charles Greene, and Leona Kleiber.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn met Melvin Mohn of Lyons in Lindsborg on Sept. 30 for dinner out.
Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber joined Milda Krauter on Sept. 30 at Marion Manor in Marion for a potluck supper. The Hubbards came especially to help Milda celebrate her birthday, which was Oct. 1.
Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Nebr., were here from Sept. 25-28, visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. All attended a soccer game Thursday at Herington to watch Grant play. On Saturday Tillie, Donald, Carolyn, and Cole attended Old Settlers' Day in Marion, while Jim and Grant went to Manhattan for the K-State football game.
Lucille Kerbs met Connie Thompson and Taylor at Herington on Sept. 27 to attend the 2003 Herington Volleyball Invitational Tournament. Allison Phillips played for the Abilene Cowgirls, who took first. Julie Kerbs, Ashton and Rustyn joined Lucille and Connie later to watch the Centre team play.
Gerald and Elaine Carlson of Sequin, Wash., visited Helen Schwartzman on Sept. 27.
Tom and Dee Duggan spent Sept. 26-28 on a bus tour to Oklahoma. They toured the state capitol at Oklahoma City Friday afternoon, then attended the Gene Autry Festival at Gene Autry, Okla. En route home Sunday they toured the Cowboy Hall of Fame and visited the memorial at the site of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs spent Sept. 22-26, in Branson, Mo. Shows they attended included "Country Tonite;" Delene Andre, who sings Patsy Cline songs; Charlie Pride; "The Welk Show;" and Hunter Hayes and Murray Conque. The 12-year-old Hayes sings and plays accordion, piano, and drums; Conque is a comedian.
