Tampa: Susie Rziha honored with farewell party

Weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Susie, Cecilia, and Julie were Wayne and Shannon Rziha of Tulsa, Okla., Janie Rziha and John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, and Joseph of Atchison, David Rziha of Lawrence, and Diane Herron and Andrew of Wichita. Additional Sunday dinner guests were eight sisters from the Immaculate Heart of Mary convent in Wichita. Susie was honored with a farewell party at the senior center Sunday afternoon. The sisters presented some information about their order and answered questions from the guests. Susie will be leaving Sunday to enter the convent.
Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence at Peabody Sunday. They went from there to Newton and Earl and Ruth Pankratz of Newton took them out for dinner in McPherson. All went to Salina, where they attended Margie Pankratz's 95th birthday party.
Sunday supper guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were George and Betty Brunner of Fenton, Mo., Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna. Tom and Lori also were dinner guests. The Brunners and their son, Jesse, were after-church visitors in the morning.
Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington took Tom and Dee Duggan out for dinner Sunday to celebrate Grandparents' Day.
A number of Tampa people attended the open house at the Durham Baptist church Sunday afternoon in celebration of Marcella Unruh's birthday.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt were among those attending the farewell party for Susie Rziha Sunday afternoon.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna attended the community worship service Sunday morning at the park in Hope. Lisa and Marilyn Anderson sang. The Hanschus stayed for the potluck dinner afterward.
Georgia Spohn went to the Heritage Festival in Hope Saturday.

The Centre junior and senior high band marched at the state fair in Hutchinson Saturday. Tampa young people participating included Amanda and Andrea Kleiber, Kristine Jirak, Nikki Stenzel, Amy Hajek, Sean Leihy, Kevin Mueller, and Christa Pretz.
Lisa Hanschu attended a football game at Derby Saturday in which her son, James Weber, played.
Jesse Brunner was honored with a surprise party Saturday evening in celebration of his 50th birthday. Hosts were his family, Rita, Melissa, Travis, Aminda, and Nathan Brunner. Relatives and friends attending enjoyed a train ride from Abilene to Enterprise and back. Upon boarding the train, everyone was given a "hobo supper" tied in a red bandanna. Birthday cake was served later and Jesse opened his gifts.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Mass, reception, and dance at Pilsen Saturday evening in celebration of Joe and Joann Nowak's 45th wedding anniversary.
Addie Berens was honored Friday evening with a birthday party with a Raggedy Ann theme. Hosts were Greg and Michele Berens and Reece. Supper guests were Raymond and Janet Bielefeld of Hope, Ross Bielefeld of Manhattan, Chris and Tisha Bielefeld, Megan and Seth of Peabody, and Geraldine Frick of Durham. Joining them for birthday cake were Bob and LaDonna Klein of Durham and Oral and Tracine Saulters of Abilene.
Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., arrived Thursday to spend a few days with Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. They took Tillie to Friday dinner at Kingfisher's Inn. Grant and Cole were Tillie's Friday overnight guests along with their grandparents. Jim, Kris, and Grant went to the Kansas State football game at Manhattan Saturday, while Cole stayed with his grandparents and great-grandmother. All were Sunday dinner guests of Jim, Kris, and sons and celebrated Carolyn's upcoming birthday. Donald and Carolyn took Tillie to dinner in Durham Monday before leaving for home.
Kathy Oborny invited Jane Vajnar for tea Friday as a belated celebration of her birthday. Also present were Diane Steiner and Dan and Kim Oborny, Ethan and Logan.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn enjoyed supper in Durham Friday.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter on Friday at Marion Manor in Marion.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended the Hope Heritage Festival on Saturday. Their granddaughter and niece, Anna Weber, rode a float in the parade.
Lois Sklenar accompanied Mary Clemmer to Emporia Thursday to visit Jim Clemmer at the hospital there.
St. John's Lutheran Women's Missionary League met Wednesday evening at the church with Cindy Bentz as hostess. Pastor Clark Davis led the topic and Adeline Bernhardt presented opening and closing devotions. Others present were Kathy Davis, Maxine Mueller, Edna Mueller, Betty Mueller, Alma Meyer, Evelyn Hensley, Leona Kleiber, and Edna Backhus.
Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Sept. 4 and they went to McPherson for dinner.
Leona Kleiber accompanied Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas to Abilene Thursday for a cross-country meet. Lynn Kleiber met them there. Andrea Kleiber was one of the athletes competing.
Supper guests of Tom and Bev Reid at the Marion County Lake Sept. 1 were Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad and Kathy Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Sara Houdyshell. They enjoyed watching the fireworks display.
Tom and Dee Duggan spent the Labor Day weekend with Darla Hall and Adam in Lee's Summit, Mo. The adults attended a production of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" Sunday evening at the new theater in Overland Park. En route home Monday, the Duggans visited Deb Hall and Kaylee in Herington.
Vernedda Klein of Durham took Jane Vajnar to dinner in Hillsboro Sept. 1 in celebration of her birthday, which was Aug. 30.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the Steinle-Weyand family reunion Sept. 1 at the Scout House in Hillsboro. Later in the afternoon, they went to an open house at the Methodist church in celebration of Norman and Dorothy Ensz's 50th wedding anniversary.
Paul and Edna Backhus met Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Janzen of Yuma, Ariz., and Tim and Emma Meisinger of the Marion County Lake at Kingfisher's Inn for dinner on Aug. 31. Leonard and Edna were high school classmates. The Janzens had come for the golden wedding celebration of his sister and her husband, Norman and Dorothy Ensz.
Dean and Becky Routh, Danielle, Allison, and Melody of Augusta and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper in Lost Springs Aug. 31.
