Tampa: Tom Reid honored on 50th birthday years ago

Tom Reid of rural Marion was honored with a 50th birthday party Thursday at the home of Paul and Edna Backhus. Others present included Bev Reid of Marion, Ron and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina, Duane Steinert of Wichita, Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Phyllis Mueller, Brad and Jason Backhus, and Sara Houdyshell. All attended the parade and fireworks at Ramona.
Dr. O'Ruth Petterson of Wichita died Saturday. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Wichita. Dr. Petterson was the mother of Kathy Backhus. Kathy and her family have the sympathy of the Tampa community.
Tillie Hein was a Sunday dinner guest of Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole.
Paul and Edna Backhus and Phyllis Mueller attended a celebration of Jim and Sandy Heath's 40th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina.
Norma Jean and Orlin Wagner of Wichita visited her sister, Georgia Spohn, Saturday.
Friday afternoon visitors of Lou and Ruby Vinduska of Pilsen were Anthony Hanson of Fort Sill, Okla., Sara Hanson of Fayetteville, N.C., Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik of Wichita, Terry and Cindy Vinduska, and Leona Kleiber.
Paul and Edna Backhus attended the wedding of Shari Schneider and William Reiter Saturday afternoon at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit, followed by a dinner and dance.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Hillsboro Friday evening to watch the nine-year-olds Cottonwood Valley All-Stars play baseball. Their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs, was on the team.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna attended the parade and fireworks at Ramona on the Fourth of July. Their family float won third place in the parade. Nikki and Anna won first in the individual category.
Leona Kleiber accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to Ramona on Independence Day for the parade, fireworks, and other festivities.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Beneke of Lincolnville were among those attending a golden wedding celebration for his sister and husband, Al and Lila Gooding of Topeka. Through an oversight they were not mentioned in the account of the occasion in last week's news.
