Teacher contracts are renewed
Career and Life Planning will be offered to students in the five district TEEN consortium through an Internet Virtual Learning class. It will be a semester class featuring the 15 career clusters developed by the U.S. Office of Education.
Students will go online to read about job duties, transferable skills, and the employment outlook for occupations in each cluster. All correspondence and assignments due to the teacher will be sent over the Internet.
Cathy Silvers, FAC teacher at Peabody High School, has developed this online class for TEEN. It can be taken at no cost by high school students from Centre, Herington, Marion, Hillsboro, and Peabody-Burns districts.
Students will independently complete the course work. However, students will meet in the ITV room at their local high school on designated Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until noon to listen to speakers representing different careers.
The class will be limited to five students from each district. If students or parents would like more information they may contact Phoebe Janzen, Marion High School counselor, Katy Pankratz, high school counselor at Peabody-Burns, or Lacy Wallace at Centre High School.
