Tentative schedule set for library dedication
A schedule has been announced for Marion Library dedication week.
Plans are tentative and subject to the construction project timeline.
Donors who gave $50 or more to the project will be treated to a buffet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. July 14 at the old library on Santa Fe.
The dedication and open house, open to the public, is 7 to 9 p.m. at the depot on South Third. Cake will be served to those present.
Other special events are:
July 15 — 11 a.m., Storytime for children ages 6-9 with Marion County Record columnist Pat Wick.
July 16 — 7 p.m., handwriting analysis by Frances Turner.
July 17 — 7 p.m., Kansas depot and train expert Robert Collins.
July 18 — 10 a.m., Storytime for children ages 3-5, featuring Clifford the Big Red Dog; 7 p.m., Internet class with Greg Davidson.
July 19-24 — Book fair with new books for children and adults available for sale during regular hours at the new library: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Prizes and books will be given away each day. Participants must register at the library.
