Texas couple wins top prize at car show

Best of Show was won by Martha Croy and Bill Croy of Seagoville, Texas, Saturday at the Marion Lions Club's 9th Annual Car Show in Central Park.

Mark Title of Andale won the award for "Best of Paint."

There were 27 entries in this year's show.

The Croys also won first place in the 1955-1964 division, with a 1957 Thunderbird, and the 2001 Corvette they entered won not only Best of Show, but also first in the 1964 and newer division.

Dennis Buford, Atwood, won first place in the pickup division with his 1956 Ford. Greg Wolff of Herington was second and Rocky Warta, also of Herington, was third.

In the 1964 and newer division, trailing the Croys' Corvette were Title of Andale, second, and Bryan Jackson, Herington, third.

In the 1955-64 division, trailing the Croys' T-bird were Ron Herbel, Marion, second, and Larry Einhaus, New Cambria, third.

In the 1946-54 division, Robert Marler, Marion, won first place with his 1949 Buick Special. Second place went to Donald Springer of Wamego and third to Jim Pence, Salina.

In the 1945 or older category, Art Post, Salina, won with his 1939 Chevrolet. Second went to Bub Lovelady, Marion, and third to Allen Church, Marion.
