Thelma Harris
Thelma Viola Harris, 94, died May 21, 2003, at Newton.
The daughter of James and Lula May (Taylor) Mellott, she was born Dec. 10, 1908, at Peabody.
On June 6, 1944, she married Kermit Harris at Cottonwood Falls. He died in 1991.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a son, Dale Harris; three brothers, Earl Mellott, Marvin Mellott, and Willis Mellott; and a sister, Gladys Archer.
Survivors include a son, Myron Harris of Peabody; brother, John Mellott of Peabody; sister, Doris Hansen of Newton; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Peabody Christian Church with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.
Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
