Theo Bond
Theo Grant Bond, 70, was born May 14, 1932, at Kirtland, N.M., the son of Mirel Dean and Maude S. (Biggs) Bond. He died July 16, 2002, at home in Marion.
He grew up in New Mexico and attended school there. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Navy.
In 1959 he was married to Judy Rowland and they had three children. For many years Theo operated a trading post and traded with the Indians in the Farmington, N.M., area. As times changed and the trading business slowed he went into the oil drilling business.
In 1982 he brought his drilling operation to Marion County and settled at Marion. Since that time he has been in different ventures and has been a partner with Rex Savage in K.C. Development.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by a son Barry of Farmington, N.M.; daughters Elizabeth Pearson of Marion and Brenda Dart of Farmington; a brother, Clayton of Kirtland, N.M.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday morning at Zeiner Funeral Home with Russ Stark and Bob Brady officiating.
Honorary casket bearers were Barry Bond, Travis Hamm, Jodie Davis, Michael Pearson, George Davis, and Rex Savage.
He was buried at the family cemetery at Kirtland, N.M.
