Think before buying a grill

Before purchasing a barbecue grill, consider the following factors:

— Cooking surface size. Consider the number of people who will be fed from the grill. There are many different sizes of grill surfaces available, and larger cooking surfaces cost more. If a grill will be used to prepare a few steaks or hamburgers at a time, there's no need to spend additional money for an enormous cooking surface.

— Space constraints. Grills come in many shapes and sizes. Make sure the new grill is not so large that it consumes the entire cooking area.

— Features. Many features are standard but some are additional such as igniters, temperature gauges, or extra storage. Consider the cooking requirements and purchase a grill based on the needs.

— Cleans easily. Barbecuing is fun and the food is almost always well-received. However, purchase a grill that allows for relatively easy cleaning to avoid excessive post-cooking work. Talk to the retailer about materials used for the cooking surface and grill interior, and ask about available features that might make cleaning easier.
