Thought-provoking books recommended
Every once in awhile in the comic strip, "B.C.," there is a clever interpretation of a word. The other day the word was "universe." It was described as a song with one verse. Wouldn't it be great if that verse was PEACE?
I have read several books lately. One was "Five People You Meet in Heaven," by Mitch Albom. He wrote, "Tuesdays with Morrie." He is such a good writer. This last book was about a man who might not make it to heaven. It is a lovely, thought-provoking story.
A friend recommended, "Sons of Fortune," by Jeffrey Archer. It is a story about twin brothers who were parted at birth and how they get back together. I think every human activity is included in this story.
Now I'm reading, "Life of Pi," by Yann Martel. If you want to read something astounding this is the book for you. It involves three religions, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. It is also about zoos. It is the story of the adventures of a young boy who manages to survive impossible odds.
Some critics call it a religious book, others say it is a defense of zoos, and some call it hilarious. The only way you can decide for yourself is to read it.
I'm still reading it so I can't give an honest opinion.
My daughter, Wanda, from Colorado Springs, is visiting me. We have been eating, going on little adventures, and just relaxing. We did go to Manhattan to see the new little great-grandson. Of course, we took a five generation picture.
Families are wonderful! Sometimes we differ but we still support and love each other. Here is to our loving families wherever they are!
