Thoughts from a wandering mind
While listening to our two state legislators report to the public Saturday morning your Ol' Editor let his mind wander a bit, and did some Rip Van Winkle thinking.
Twenty years ago the worst investment a person could have made would be money. It has depreciated drastically. The biggest growth area of our economy has been government.
Thoughts also wandered to the upcoming Marion city election on the landfill issue. It likely will be won by a small minority of registered voters. If, for example, one segment of 15 percent opposes the issue and turns out at the polls they will win — if only 25 percent vote. The 15 percent will succeed, by voting, while the majority loses. It has happened before.
It would be good if an overwhelming majority of registered voters do their duty. Then, their decision (either way) would be the end of continued controversy.
Such are some of the thoughts reserved for sessions of listening to our legislators.
