Thousands expected for Art in the Park

In just a few days, the population of Marion will increase by 20,000 or more.

Marion's 28th annual Art in the Park will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Central Park.

Local and area vendors will join vendors from throughout the U.S. to offer homemade arts and craft items to shoppers.

Food vendors, all local residents and organizations, will provide a variety of menus that include brisket sandwiches, funnel cakes, curly fries, baked potato bar, hamburgers, polish sausage, roasted corn, nachos, beer brats, bierock, homemade cinnamon rolls, sloppy joes, taco salad, cotton candy, and hand-squeezed lemonade.

A shuttle bus to the park, provided by USD #408, will be available from Marion Die & Fixture on West Main Street and Marion Baseball Complex on Eisenhower Road.

Live entertainment also will be provided.

Marion Boy Scout Troop 102 will provide curb service for vendors to help load and unload their wares. The troop also will provide security in the park overnight.

Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Fair will be held Saturday as well. The town expects more than 40,000 visitors to its downtown craft show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
