Thursday morning fire damages Florence home

A house fire Thursday morning at 325 Circle Drive, Florence, caused extensive damage.

Florence firefighters were called to the scene around 10 a.m. when smoke was billowing from the roof and attic of the two-story, wood-framed house. At 10:30 a.m., mutual aid was requested and two units from the Peabody Fire Department were dispatched with an infrared camera.

The house is located on a steep hill, quite a distance from fire hydrants, so water was pumped from a hydrant on Grandview Avenue, just west of the fire scene. A Peabody pumper truck also filled with water and provided an additional water stream.

The home is owned by John and Lisa Clabough who moved to the residence last year. Lisa Clabough and her children were home at the time of the fire and all escaped without injury.

The fire remains under investigation.
