Time well spent
Saturday was one of the seldom-seen "priceless" days the credit card commercials are always talking about. It wasn't filled with plans and parties, nor was it just another day.
The usual Saturday routine involves the same as every other day of the week — getting up and going to work. True, the schedule is a bit more relaxed, but the work is the same.
This Saturday, however, was different. Daughter #2 and I hit the garage sales in Marion and Hillsboro. Have I mentioned I don't like shopping? Come to find out, I don't much care for garage sales, either.
Jessica apparently feels the same way. Our strategy was to drive slowly by a garage sale site and if there was something she wanted to look at, we would stop. Needless to say, we didn't stop at many. We bought a few things, but the people holding the garage sales didn't get rich from us. Our biggest expenditure that morning was breakfast.
Mostly, she kept me laughing with her quick wit and running commentary about everything. She has an opinion on everything from A-Z. Her colorful way of looking at things always makes me think and usually makes me laugh.
It was an extraordinary morning in that it wasn't ordinary. We spent some "quality" time together. I learned a few things and got the opportunity to see inside that 15-year-old brain. That was the priceless part.
