Tree lighting ceremony is Dec. 2

Central Homecare & Hospice and Friends of Hospice will hold Tree of Life lighting ceremonies at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in Marion Central Park.

The site will serve as places for remembering deceased loved ones and honoring living loved ones.

The project also raises needed funds for the non-profit hospice. Flyers distributed at area banks, churches, and merchants include a tear-off portion for sending a $15 donation to have a loved one's name listed in the bookstand by the tree.

For a $50 donation, donors will receive a limited edition porcelain angel ornament, designed and created by Judy Murphree. The angel is made by hand in a fine white clay and tied with a bow. Each ornament is stamped by name and number along with the artist's stamp.

The tree will be lit throughout the holiday season, and additional names will be added to the list through weekly updates.

Ceremonies also will be conducted Dec. 3 at the Harvey County Courthouse and Dec. 5 at the McPherson County Courthouse.
