Truck overturns in Florence roundabout
It was bound to happen but nobody knew exactly when.
The first accident on the new roundabout at U.S.-77/50 intersection at Florence occurred at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 2, when a semi tractor, transporting three semi tractors, approached the roundabout eastbound on U.S.-50 and failed to slow down. As the vehicle traveled through the roundabout, the driver, Erasto R. Faraji, 50, Las Vegas, Nev., over-corrected which resulted in the semi he was driving to overturn.
Two of the semi cabs that were being hauled also were overturned and damaged, reported Florence Police Officer Phillip Crom.
The vehicle was registered to Active USA Transport of Kenosha, Wis.
There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicles and state traffic signs.
The roundabout was opened in September.
