Twins win local Duckwalls Cute Baby contest

A brother and sister are the co-winners in the Marion Duckwall's Cute Baby Contest.

The winners, twins Jeffery Lynn and Emily Nichole Garrison, are the grandchildren of Luke and Ed Siebert, Marion. They are the children of Lynn and Tracy Garrison of Edmond, Okla.

The Garrison twins were the top fundraisers in the annual contest.

This year six children were entered in the contest at the Marion store, according to manager Janie Meierhoff. Contestants receive a $25 gift certificate from Duckwall's.

Photos of the young contestants were placed on jars on display in the local Duckwall's store. Shoppers then voted for the "cutest baby" by placing money in the appropriate jar.

"We raised a total of $1,043.81 with all six contestants," Meierhoff said. "In the past, I believe the most we've ever raised was $700 or so."

Meierhoff was impressed with the amount raised locally. In fact, the $1,043.81 generated in Marion is the largest amount raised by any of the company's stores.

"So far, our store is the highest one," she said.

The money raised at the Marion store will go toward the Community Christmas fund, Meierhoff said. Each individual store decides how the money raised in the contest will be used.

The contest took place during the month of October.
