Two roads will be overlaid this fall
Bids for two county overlay projects will be advertised within two weeks.
Mike Olson of Kirkham Michael Consulting reported Monday to Marion County Commission, of plans for 19 miles of county roads.
The roads slated for two-inch overlays are 290th Road and Old Mill, south of Peabody.
Olson said bid letting would be held three weeks after advertising and asphalt laid by mid-October. He said the road should be completed by the end of November.
Commissioner Randy Dallke asked what happens if the weather is too cold for the work to be completed? Olson said the air temperature had to be 50 degrees Fahrenheit and the surface temperature 40 degrees F. and rising in order for the work to be done.
If the construction company cannot efficiently complete the project, Olson said he would return to the commission for guidance.
