USD 408 mill levy drops slightly years ago
Staying true to what it told voters in 2005, the mill levy for Marion-Florence USD 408 has stayed nearly the same for the second year in a row.
The board of education accepted the proposed budget Monday at its normal meeting with a levy of 46.111 mills.
In 2006 the levy was 46.162 and in 2005 it was 46.201.
Superintendent Lee Leiker presented the budget to the board, noting some adjustments had to be made to deflect rising fuel and food prices.
The state mandates 20 mills for the district, the local option budget incorporated 14.527 mills, and the bonds accounted for 11.584 mills.
Leiker also noted the district will make its final payment in September on the bond approved 11 years ago for the building that now houses Marion Middle School.
