USD 408 selects firm for building project years ago

USD 408 board of education selected the architectural firm Spangenberg and Phillips of Wichita Monday to complete a proposed building project.

The project, an indoor/outdoor swimming facility, auditorium, and gymnasium, would be subject to a bond issue vote in April.

It would not raise the mill levy or taxes if passed.

Superintendent Lee Leiker said while cost was an issue, fees are five percent of the project cost. The board was pleased with its presentation and the commitment the project would receive.

The firm will not charge the district any money if the project does not pass, but will start with preliminary stages right away.

"We will provide as much information to the public regarding this project," Leiker said of the preliminary stages.

If the issue does not pass in April, the district will not assume any financial costs.
