Vera Osgood
Vera Katherine Osgood, 68, was born Aug. 29, 1934, to Harold and Mildred (Osban) Johnston in Marion, one of nine children.
Mrs. Osgood graduated from Marion High School in 1952, and all of her life in Marion and Chase counties.
She married Francis Osgood Aug. 9, 1974, in Cottonwood Falls.
They enjoyed camping, fishing, and the outdoors. She and her husband traveled in their RV all around the United States since 1994. In 1996, they began summering in the north and wintering in the south.
Mrs. Osgood is survived by her husband, Francis, Florence; four daughters, Kathy Dossey of Blanchard, Okla., Brenda Bensinger and Mary Eccles, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Carolyn Wirtz of Council Grove; three brothers, Dale and Wayne Johnston of Marion and Les Johnston of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Marie Land and Shirley Cardin of Florence, Wanda Waring of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Barbara Craney of Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Everett Cress officiated.
Dolly Soyez played the organ while Monica Jones sang "One Day At A Time" and "Old Rugged Cross."
Lawrence Osgood and Carol Slocum shared special memories.
Casketbearers were David, John, and Josh Dossey, Preston Herring, Jeremy Bowman, and Jason Richardson.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
A memorial fund has been established with the Harry Hines Memorial Hospice, Wichita.
