Viola Jost
Viola W. Klassen Jost, 101, died Jan. 11, 2004, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.
Born May 18, 1902, at Latham, she was the daughter of Melville and Jennie (Messick) White.
She was superintendent of Marion County Schools and a member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
On Sept. 9, 1921, she married Dr. G.S. Klassen at Latham. He died in 1955.
She married P.G. Jost on Sept. 11, 1962, at Hillsboro. He died in 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Jost of Lenore, Idaho, Robert Jost of St. John, and Karl Jost of Hillsboro; 10 daughters, Linda Funk of Hillsboro, Violet Bartel and Juanita Hiebert of Shafter, Calif., and Geraldine Grentz of Marion; Evelyn Regier of Colby, Jennie Duerksen and Loraine Juracich of Reedley, Calif., Wanda Enns of LaJunta, Colo., Virginia Nuss of Newton, and Katherine Sommerfeld of Smolan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastors Dave Plett and John Ratzlaff officiating.
Burial was at 10 a.m. in Hillsboro MB Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Viola Jost Scholarship Fund at Tabor College.
