Viola Kelsey

Viola M. Kelsey, 82, died Jan. 18, 2008, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Born July 2, 1925, near Marion, she was the daughter of Frank and Katharina (Martens) Janzen.

On Dec. 4, 1940, she married Donald D. Kelsey at Marion.

She was a homemaker and seamstress for the former Sassy Shop, doing alterations for many years.

She was a member of Marion Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; and six siblings.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Bud and Tressie Kelsey, Gerald and Sharon Kelsey, and Randy and Kodi Kelsey, all of Marion, Ron and Linn Kelsey of Hiawatha and Doug and Mary Kelsey of Solomon; four daughters and their husbands, Donna and Max Hayen, Neva and Lyndon Hett, and Lori and Kevin Fruechting, all of Marion, and Kathy and Mark Rathert of Greenwood Village, Colo.; brother, Earl and Lucy Janzen of Peabody; sister, Lorena Kelsey of Wichita; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jack and Treva Kerbs, Forrest and Bea Kelsey, Keith and Clara Kelsey, Dan Helmer, and Elsie Kelsey; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Marion Christian Church with Pastor Carl Helm officiating. Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Marion Christian Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
