Voters turn out for city council, school bond

Registered voters from Marion and USD #408 went to the polls April 4, and chose four new Marion city councilmen and approved three building projects.

Of the 1,455 registered voters in the city, 751 voted, nearly a 50 percent turnout.

With provisional ballots included, the results were: Stacey Collett, 526; Gene Winkler, 525; Bill Holdeman, 464; Jerry Kline, 359; Jim Crofoot, 336; Darvin Markley, 317; Max Hayen, 266; and Jim Davis, 204.

Collett and Winkler will each serve four-year terms, and Holdeman and Kline will serve two-year terms.

At Marion South precinct, 368 out of 691 registered voters made it to the polls, and 363 out of 764 at Marion North voted.

In the school district, there were 1,345 voters out of 2,850 registered voters.

There were 126 votes counted on absentee or advance ballots. Of those, 101 voted yes for the bond issue and 21 voted no.

With provisional ballots included, the final votes were 1,009 yes and 349 no.
