Wagon Wheel adds indoor seating

It's been 12 years in the making and it finally happened.
Linda Meier, owner of Wagon Wheel Express at 202 W. Main, Marion, had been thinking about enclosing a patio picnic area since she opened the drive-in 12 years ago.
"Customers had asked me to do it for a long time," Meier said.
A recent home improvement project provided some leftover siding which prompted Meier and husband Lloyd to add about 20 indoor seats. Several tables and chairs and a cabinet were purchased locally. Items from Meier's home make the dining area comfortable and inviting.
The partially enclosed patio was fine when the weather was fine but during Kansas winters and summers, having a climate-controlled area makes sense, Meier said.
Typically, customers pick up orders and take them home or back to work. Meier hopes to attract more customers by offering indoor seating.
A portable wall unit provides sufficient heat and cooling for customers as they wait for their orders or eat their meals.
"There were six people who ate here Monday who said they wouldn't have stopped to eat here if there wasn't the indoor seating," Meier said.
