Marion finished fifth in four-man with a score of 384. Circle won the four-man competition with 343.
Circle also took the six-man title with a score of 523. Marion finished fourth with 554.
Other individual scores for Marion were Justin Brookens, 42-50 92; Joe Svitak, 48-47 95; Nick Carlson, 52-51 103; Brent Cleeton, 50-54 104.
Marion hosts a Class 3A regional at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course. Teams in the regional include Marion, Hillsboro, Halstead, Cheney, Hesston, Bluestem, Collegiate, Independent, and Trinity Academy.
"We have the toughest regional in Class 3A, no question," said Coach Doug Dick.
Both Collegiate and Independent are defending state champions, Collegiate in 3A and Independent in 2A (the school moved to 3A this year).
Though the team has seen personnel changes that hurt, Dick still says this is the best overall golf team he's coached at Marion.
"They have the most potential, they've made great improvements, and they're all young," he said. "I think they'll be even better next year."
