Warrior softball drops pair to Chase County

The Marion High School softball team dropped two games May 4 to Chase County while on the road.

The Warriors fell 7-5 in game one of the scheduled double-header match-up and 12-3 in game two.

The Warriors and Bulldogs started their first game scoreless in the first inning of play. Chase County pulled ahead with a run in the second and one in the third.

Marion battled back in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth. The Warriors led 5-2 heading into the sixth inning.

After being shutout in the sixth inning, Chase County strung together five runs and inevitably closed out the game with the two-run win.

In game two, the Warriors managed just three runs for the game, while the Bulldogs rattled off 12.

In the first inning, Chase County jumped out to a three-run advantage.

The Warriors added their first run in the top of the second inning, but the Bulldogs buried two more runs in the same inning.

After two scoreless innings in the third and fourth inning, Marion added two more runs in the fifth, but sacrificed six Bulldog runs to fall behind 11-3. Chase added a run in the sixth and closed out the game with a nine-run victory.
